Placing points 2009
Eight best athletes per event will get placing points as follows: 10 – 9 – 8 – 7 – 6 – 5 – 4 – 3.
On the tracks of six lines six best of the A-final will get the placing points 10-5 and two best of the B-final points 4 and 3.
Total scores consist of points gained from the three top rankings and the ranking in the final competition. If the athlete won't take part in the final competition, gets she/he 0 points, which is counted in automatically.
When the points are even will the superiority be resolved by resulting points* (of the finals) of the four best competitions. If the resulting points are also even is the victory resolved by the points of the final's best result. Wind and weather conditions won't be considered when counting the resulting points.
*Resulting points are determined by the IAAF's international scoring table: IAAF scoring table.
